If you’ve walked into almost any store since during the lat few months, chances are you’ve spotted one (or two or three or four) kimonos on the racks. I love that they've added a modern twist to the flowy robes- prints, fringe, varying length.

I found this kimono/trench at Zara. Fell in love with it right away, but I knew this printed beauty definitely wouldn't fit me like it did on the mannequin - why are those girls on their damn tippy-toes all the time?! But this work of art at least deserved a try on, and i was so happy I did! It hit at ankle length which to me is the ample length.

I knew exactly when I would wear this beautifully printed piece at a museum or art gallery so I would fit-right-in.

So I did just that.

The Aga Khan Museum offers unique insights and new perspectives into Islamic civilizations and the cultural threads that weave through history. They have artifacts dating from the 8th century through to the 21st century and the art is REAL. To be completely honest I do get more excited about seeing the architecture of galleries more than the art itself. Not that I don’t love art, I just prefer to own it, have it hanging on my own walls to enjoy it forever ... Kind of like my clothes.

This museum - just beautiful. The museum is designed by Fumihiko Maki - an oasis of indirect light in the exhibition spaces. Based on the concept of 'Light', the building offers an extraordinary introduction to the arts of the Islamic world.

If you are in the area make sure you pay it a visit.
